The Issues of Kosovo Turks Were Raised on the Agenda of the European Parliament

The main challenges faced by the Turkish community of Kosovo were brought to the agenda during a meeting of the Intergroup on Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages, operating within the European Parliament, held in Strasbourg. The meeting was chaired by Loránt Vincze, President of the Intergroup, and attended by Sevgi Buş Kika, Advisor to Fikrim Damka, Deputy Prime Minister and Spokesperson of the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed, including the language rights of the Turkish community in Kosovo, challenges in accessing education in the Turkish language, and the need for stronger and more visible representation within European institutions. These matters were presented directly to Members of the European Parliament and formally placed on their agenda.
In her address, Sevgi Buş Kika emphasized the importance of raising the demands and concerns of Kosovo Turks on international platforms, underlining the need for European institutions to demonstrate greater sensitivity and engagement regarding these issues.
Meanwhile, it was noted that within the framework of activities carried out by the Kosovo Youth Union Association, which serves as the FUEN (Federal Union of European Nationalities) Representative for Kosovo, efforts to increase the visibility and recognition of the Turkish community of Kosovo within European institutions are continuing with determination.
As the Kosovo Youth Union Association, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing our efforts to protect the language, identity, and cultural heritage of the Turkish community of Kosovo, to advocate for its rights, and to ensure stronger international representation.
